Sunday in Oregon: Clearing skies, cooler temps

0

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- We saw extremely active weather across our region Saturday afternoon and early evening after a sunny and beautiful start to the day. But the weather for Sunday is much different.

As our skies turned stormy across the region Saturday, we had frequent lightning that consisted of more than 200 lighting strikes in just 30 minutes total, along with gusty winds and hail.

Plus, portions of Oregon and SW Washington were under severe thunderstorm warnings at times, mostly along the foothills.

We'll start to see clearing skies around mid-morning Sunday and then more mild weather returns to the PNW. But for Sunday morning, there's still a chance for some lingering rain showers.

Sunday's forecast calls for the chance of lingering showers in the morning with a daytime high of 77 degrees.

Cooler and drier weather is expected through much of next week. This comes as temperatures remain a few degrees below our seasonal average of 82 degrees in the metro area.

Monday looks like our warmest days as we climb back up to 79 degrees.
