Leicester City have agreed a deal to sign Oliver Skipp from Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the match tomorrow.

Oliver Skipp is on his way to Leicester City

Tottenham kick off their Premier League campaign with a trip to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City on Monday, with the Lilywhites hoping to make a winning start against the newly-promoted side.

However, it turns out that the Foxes have stepped up their interest in one Spurs man on the eve of their showdown.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has claimed that Skipp will undergo a medical with Leicester today before putting pen to paper on a deal.

Sami Mokbel revealed on social media earlier today that Leicester held a concrete interest in signing Oliver Skipp ahead of the transfer deadline, with the Midlands club alleged to be accelerating their pursuit of the 23-year-old.

The journalist adds that Tottenham are also willing to allow their academy graduate to head out of the exit door before the end of the month.

This has also been backed up by Fabrizio Romano, who earlier stated that Steve Cooper’s men are expected to make an offer for the midfielder over the coming days where he will be reunited with Harry Winks.

When asked about Skipp’s future last weekend, Ange Postecoglou insisted that the decision would ultimately rest with the player himself.

He told Football.London: “A lot of those things are kind of in the player’s hands, where they see themselves and what they want from their careers. I have always had the same sort of thought process on those things. When they are with us, they are with us. That doesn’t mean things will change and you have to embrace and accept that as a manager that things change, while they are here, they are here.

“A lot of things dictate themselves and I do think that depending on the individual players, they’ve got a career that they have to manage themselves. Whether they think that this is the right place to keep progressing. I’ve always respected that a lot of those decisions also come down to them.”

Postecoglou has made it clear that he would not stand in the way of any player who has asked to leave. Skipp probably wants regular game time at this stage of his career.

Tottenham might have even potentially delayed the sale to Leicester to ensure the midfielder does not come up against them in the opening game.
