Waves ahead of the wind

0

Hello Friends,

A bright and breezy Sunday morning saw 2 metres of 9-sec straight south swell hitting the focal points along our beaches. By the time your slightly seedy feeling correspondent rocked up for a look at proceedings, the westerly wind had begun its predicted swing to the south. At the time the pictures were taken it was 12-20 kts and as you can see from the pics, the surface was starting to look well textured.  By around lunch time or early afternoon it’s going to be southerly according to the Bureau.

It was pretty consistent and set wave faces were into the shoulder-plus range up the beach toward the pole. The point however was missing out as the period’s just not quite enough to refract from straight south.

Swell should continue at about the current intensity tomorrow and Tuesday before fading back by Thursday.

Have a good one!

Weather Situation

Fresh to strong west to southwesterly winds will shift southerly on Sunday as a trough moves north along the New South Wales coast. After this winds will ease and then tend northerly later Monday or Tuesday as a high pressure system moves to the Tasman Sea. The next wind change looks set to arrive mid-week.
