Midweek preview: Home stretch continues with Roman Glass test

Another matchday, another home Hellenic League Premier Division contest for Royal Wootton Bassett Town. This time Roman Glass St George are the opposition as they visit the Sustain Stadium on Tuesday night (7.45pm kick off). Facing a Roman Glass side who have made a hot start to the new campaign and narrowly missed out on a top five placing in each of the past two seasons, the game represents another early test of Bassett's playoff prospects. Despite playing a significant part of the second half with ten men, Sam Collier's team edged out their opponents 1-0 when they met in the league in Wiltshire last season. However, Roman Glass prevailed in a Challenge Cup contest before winning the reverse league fixture 1-0. It therefore promises to be a tight, intriguing encounter with both teams looking to strike an early blow on the other. Admission is £8 for adults, £5 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members. Also this week the Development team visit near neighbours Kingsdown in the Wiltshire League Premier Division on Wednesday (6.30pm) for the second of a trip of early season midweek derbies.
