The second day of qualifying at the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals, Tierp Arena, Sweden, saw some movers and shakers across the FIM-E classes. With the fields now set, we head into eliminations tomorrow (Sunday).
FIM-E Top Fuel Bike
Rikard Gustafsson lowered his class-leading number from yesterday with a PB elapsed time of 5.7315/253.41 to head the FIM-E Top Fuel Bike field, although some swarf in the oil on a subsequent 5.8 has necessitated an engine change ahead of eliminations tomorrow.
As prefaced yesterday, Sverre Dahl is out of competition and Jan Sturla Hegre remains at three. Rene van den Berg improved to a 6.4534 but stayed at four. Mike Olie PB’d with a 6.6393 from his Kawasaki Funny Bike, and Kari Rautanen steps up to sixth with a 6.8380, followed by Peter Andersson and Thomas Pettersson.
FIM-E Super Twin
FIM-E Super Twin Bike still has Marcus Christiansen at its head, with the Dane improving to a 6.1109/227.48 (nudging ever closer to the quickest N/A mark). Behind him, Erling Opheim stays at two with his six thirty from yesterday, Per Bengtsson nudged quicker with a 6.4013 (a quicker 6.3 being discounted after the finish line block was dislodged), and Samu Kemppainen improved with a 6.6292 despite torching a head on the first run today to complete the top half of the field.
Son and father John and Svein Olav Rolfstad dropped in at five and six with a 6.6384 (PB) and 6.7384, respectively; Marko Lantto rounds out the six-second runners with his 6.9 from yesterday, while Roman Sixta sits on the bump with a 7.0294.
FIM-E Super Street Bike
A bit of shuffle at the sharp end of the FIM-E Super Street Bike field sees Dániel Donát Lencsés take over at the top with a 6.7824/224.89, knocking Alan Morrison Jnr down a spot, although the Brit had improved with a 6.8388.
Lencsés’s mate Krisztián Jász improved a shade with a 6.9273 but remained at three, while Morrison Jnr’s brother Ross drops in at four with a 6.9800, and Mogens Lund completes the six-second runners with a 6.9996. The class will have an all-run 13-bike ladder in eliminations.
FIM-E Pro Stock Bike
Joerg Lymant held onto the lead in FIM-E Pro Stock Bike ahead of Bertrand Maurice and Timo Savolainen as per yesterday, while Janne Koskinen and Theodor Vik swapped fourth and fifth when the former improved to a 7.4269.
These five will all run in eliminations tomorrow.

Sportsman Classes
Gustafsson, Christiansen, Morrison Jr and Lymant lead after Day One at the Summit
words and photos by Ivan Sansom & Rose Huges
The opening day of FIM-E qualifying at the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals, Tierp Arena, Sweden, delivered some pretty stout numbers across the four contested classes and with two sessions down and another day of qualifying to come tomorrow.
FIM-E Top Fuel Bike
Championship leader Rikard Gustafsson underlined his performance advantage over the rest of the FIM-E Top Fuel Bike field carding a very impressive 5.7799/254.38 in firing an opening salvo. Unfortunately, a sticking exhaust valve during the warm-up prevented an improvement in the second session for the RG Engineering team.
In second spot is Sverre Dahl with a 6.0495, but the Sunshine Express team is packing up and heading home to Norway after discovering the crank hadn’t liked it. Compatriot Jan Sturla Hegre is currently at 3 with a 6.3178 followed Rene van den Berg at 6.5563.
The funnybikes of Mike Olie (6.7192), Peter Andersson (PBing in the class with a 6.9752), Kari Rautanen (7.0581) and Thomas Pettersson complete the current field.
FIM-E Super Twin
A first outing with a bigger fuel pump propelled Marcus Christiansen to a very nice 6.1302/226.40 to put the Dane in the provisional lead of the FIM-E Super Twin masses.
Erling Opheim destroyed his PB with a 6.3403 from one of the Rolfstad blower bikes for second, followed by Per Bengtsson (6.4158), Samu Kemppainen (6.7736) and Marko Lantto (6.9786) in the sixes. With a total entry of sixteen, tomorrow (Saturday) could be a tense affair.
FIM-E Super Street Bike
Surprisingly, only three riders are in the six-second zone in FIM-E Super Street Bike, although seeing reigning champion Alan Morrison Jnr on top of the heap with a 6.8740/218 isn’t that much of an eyebrow-raiser.
The Hungarian duo of Krisztián Jász (6.9292) and Dániel Donát Lencsés (6.9676) complete the currently quick trio, and like FIM-E Super Twin, we’re anticipating some big moves tomorrow.
FIM-E Pro Stock Bike
The five bikes in FIM-E Pro Stock Bike are currently led by Joerg Lymant, who has a Buell 7.1334, while Bertrand Maurice is a shade behind, with a Suzuki 7.1993.
Timo Savolainen (7.2243), Theodor Vik (7.4492) and Janne Koskinen (7.4521) complete the quintet.
