Morgan City's Vernon Norwood wins Olympic gold medal
FRANCE (KLFY) -- Morgan City's Vernon Norwood captured his second medal of the 2024 Olympics on Saturday in the Men's 4x400 Meter Relay Final.
Norwood, Chris Bailey, Bryce Deadmon, and Rai Benjamin were able to power through and win in a tight finish against Botswana. Team USA was phenomenal, breaking an Olympic record with their 2:54:43 finish.
Vernon Norwood collected his second career gold medal and his second medal of the 2024 Olympics.
Norwood was a part of the gold medal Men’s 4x400 Meter Relay team who took home Gold in Tokyo. Saturday's win marked two Olympic Games in a row where Norwood has helped Team USA bring home a first-place finish in the Men’s 4x400 Meter Relay.
Norwood collected his first medal at the Paris Olympics in the Mixed 4 x 400m Relay, where Team USA captured silver.
