PARIS (KNWA) — As the Paris Olympics begin to wrap up, Los Angeles is no longer on deck. They're in the batter's box.

LA28 chairman Casey Wasserman and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass spoke in Paris on Saturday about their opportunity to now showcase one of the greatest cities in the world.

One of the things they've learned during their time in the French capital is that the French committee did things differently, took chances and made sure that these games were authentically Paris.

Now they're ready to showcase authentically L.A.

I think we are the place in the world where culture is made and culture is started and so where that's our incredible history in the film industry or the music business," Wasserman said. "LA has become so much more about fashion and film and food and all of those things and all of the star power and the opportunity to showcase that to the world, that's authentically LA.

Wasserman continued by saying that Los Angeles doesn't have an Eiffel Tower, they have a Hollywood Sign along with "incredible venues."

"What is authentically LA? Angelenos, and Angelenos represent all different parts of the world. So, I will be excited when people come from Bangladesh and see there is a little Bangladesh and a little Ethiopia and a little Tehran," Bass said. "All around the world there will be people coming from countries who will come and see their diaspora, and I am hoping that's something we can really build on."

Before sights are set on Los Angeles, the Closing Ceremony will be held at Stade de France where Wasserman said they have some tricks up their sleeve that they're excited to showcase,

On Monday, the flag will fly with Bass to City Hall and sit outside her office until the 2028 Summer Olympics.
