Inside Strictly’s Tasha Ghouri’s rise to fame from ‘struggle’ in Love Island to her dancing past as she sparks fix row

TASHA Ghouri has become the second Love Island star in history to be signed up to Strictly Come Dancing.

The star was among the famous faces revealed for the BBC dancing contest earlier this week.

Tasha will be joined by fellow reality star Pete Wicks as well as Toyah Wilcox, Olympian Tom Dean and JLS singer JB Gill.

Fans of Tasha were first introduced to the star back in 2022 where she made the final of Love Island alongside her boyfriend Andrew Le Page.

Tasha, who is dead, has previously opened up on how she has navigated life in the celebrity world with her condition and admitted that she had struggles during her stay in the Love Island villa.

She was born deaf into a hearing family and had a cochlear implant – a small electronic device in her right ear – fitted at the age of five, which allowed her to hear for the first time.

Speaking in a YouTube video about being deaf in the villa, shortly after leaving the ITV2 programme, Tasha said: “Being in the villa, in such an intense environment, I struggled in conversations or when people said I’ve got a text, and read out the text, I would be like ‘oh what did the text say?’ I miss out quite a lot so it wasn’t easy in the villa.”

Explaining why she struggled, the star said: “I am constantly having to lip read, even though I have my cochlear implant. Everyday, constantly, especially being in a social environment.

“I suffer from bad migraines because my brain is so overworking and because of the magnet and the coil it is quite painful quite a lot because they’re such strong magnets. They are really strong and can really pulsate and give me really bad headaches.”

Not surprisingly, Tasha found it hard at times on the show as she kept up with the constant chatter – and her emotions were felt full force.

She continued:  “Sometimes in the villa I was honestly exhausted, even after a challenge.

“You’ve been in the sun all day, really hot weather can make you tired, so it was double the effect and it can make you more emotional as well, which is actually a proven thing because when you are really fatigued and tired.

“I do wear my heart on my sleeve, I am an emotional person anyway but there were days you know when I had a really bad headache, I was tired, I just wanted to go to sleep and my emotions would really overtake me.

“So being in the villa was also hard with that in that scenario. I am not sitting here looking for sympathy, I’m just explaining how it is growing up with cochlear implant.”

Before becoming a famed Islander, Tasha was working as both a commercial model and a dancer – a fact bound to spark fix rumours.

The star had been sharing dancing clips to social media months before being handed a coveted spot on the ITV2 dating show.
