El Reno family pays company thousands for new roof, still waiting after months
EL RENO, Okla. (KFOR) — An El Reno family said they paid a construction company to replace their roof, but instead has been left in dark.
Beverly Knight said the home has been in her family for over 15 years. It belongs to her brother and sister-in-law.
"I feel like they've done them really dirty and it's my family," said Knight.
Nine months ago, the roof began to wear down.
"I think it's the storms, the hailstorms and stuff that we've had and it needs a different roof put on it," said Knight. "The one bedroom leaks. So therefore, the ceiling is falling down in that bedroom."
The family called Trimaster Construction and paid a $2,600 deposit for a new roof.
"They were supposed to come back and do the roof, and they have never come back," said Knight.
Knight said her sister-in-law is disabled and was moved into a nursing home for the time being until she has neck surgery.
"She's just worried to death about it," said Knight. "I feel like they're taking advantage of her and I don't think it's right for them to take advantage of a disabled woman especially."
For months, Knight said she's tried to stay on top of this and make sure the job gets done for her family, but instead has been met with excuses.
"You call and the secretary answers the phone, you ask for, his name is Gary and 'well, he's not in right now or he's busy'," said Knight. "When they do call back, they say, 'well, we'll be there the next week.'"
We reached out to Trimaster Construction and spoke with the owner.
"If no one was getting out there then they could at least get their deposit back," said Knight.
The owner said that he's planning on sending a crew next week to measure the roof and start the job.
Trimaster Construction said they will contact Knight's family and let them know what day they will be there next week.
