Round Rock man gets 60 years following repeated family violence incidents

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Round Rock man was sentenced to 60 years in prison by a Williamson County jury Wednesday in connection with a July 2021 incident.

According to Williamson County officials, 56-year-old Ronald Allen Mitchell was found guilty of assault - family violence. Records showed he also had a previous family violence conviction.

The Williamson County District Attorney’s Office (DA) said during the 2021 incident, Mitchell was seen forcefully pulling an infant child seat away from his girlfriend before shoving her and walking away with the child.

The DA said the victim used her phone to record the audio of the assaults and subsequently captured numerous threats Mitchell made against her.

“The jury’s decision in this case sends a strong message that domestic violence will not be tolerated in our community. Mitchell’s extensive criminal history warranted a significant sentence to ensure he is held accountable for his crimes and to protect public safety,” DA Shawn Dick said. “Our office is committed to rooting out domestic violence in our community.”
