ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Those who stopped at select Dunkin' locations this morning may have noticed a police presence at the restaurant. Police and Special Olympics New York athletes came together to collect donations at nearly two dozen Dunkin' locations in the Capital Region for a good cause.

The donations collected from this "Go for the Gold" campaign will go toward the cost of athletic training and future competitions for Special Olympics New York. Dunkin' offered guests a coupon for a free donut as a thank-you for donations.

The Fall Special Olympics games will be hosted in Glens Falls in October with 1,500 athletes expected to attend.
