Mortified BBC Breakfast hosts forced to halt show after series of technical blunders disrupt live broadcast
NAGA Munchetty experienced on-air chaos during Friday’s BBC Breakfast as the show faced technical blunders.
The host had been presenting a segment when footage scheduled to play on a screen behind her failed to do so.

After a long pause, Naga addressed the mishap by saying: “Well you could have had a look but we haven’t got it, unfortunately.
“But what we can do is show you a feed in this moment in time…”
After showing the video, Naga realised another error occurred as she added: “Well, it is a frozen combine harvester. This is great.”
“Oh no, there it is. It is moving there.”
At that point in the show, the hosts were joined by guests, YouTube farmer Tom Pemberton and Agricultural Chaplain Rev. David Newlove.
Speaking to the studio visitors, Charlie addressed the technical issues.
He said: “I suppose in a way what happened there is a bit like farming, isn’t it?
“Things don’t always go according to plan and you have to deal with things and cope in the moment.”
The awkward scenes come amid a string of changes in recent episodes of Breakfast.
On Friday (August 9), Sarah Keith-Lucas replaced regular weather presenter Carol Kirkwood.
Meanwhile, Ben Thompson and Sarah Campbell stepped in for Jon Kay and Sally Nugent from Monday to Wednesday.
Coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympics has also impacted how the show reaches viewers’ screens.
Although the morning show starts off on BBC One at 6am as normal, it is cut short by Olympics coverage beginning at 8am.
For its last hour, Breakfast then switches over to BBC Two.
It is also not the first time that the show’s been faced with technical difficulties.
Who are the current presenters of BBC Breakfast?
The flagship BBC show has had dozens of presenters during its impressive 40 years on air but the current stars are:
Jon Kay – Since 2022
Sally Nugent – Since 2021
Charlie Stayt – Since 2006
Naga Munchetty – Since 2014
Carol Kirkwood – Since 1997
Earlier this year, an episode was thrown into chaos at the very start as the opening titles froze and failed to roll.
The theme tune failed to play leaving just a shot of MediaCity in Manchester on screen.
Fans were left waiting for the programme to kick off for approximately a minute before presenters Jon and Sally finally appeared on screen.
BBC Breakfast is available to watch on iPlayer.
