Alasdair Gold reveals what he has heard about Dominic Solanke to Tottenham
Alasdair Gold reports that Dominic Solanke has shown a ‘big desire’ to play for Tottenham, as the Lilywhites close in on a deal to sign the striker from Bournemouth.
Tottenham expect to sign Solanke
The Times revealed earlier this week that Tottenham Hotspur were increasingly confident of concluding a deal for Dominic Solanke ahead of their Premier League season opener.
Spurs’ campaign gets underway with a trip to the King Power Stadium on August 19, with the Lilywhites seemingly intent on getting a number nine through the door before they take to the field against the Foxes.
The Times alleged that Tottenham expect Solanke to sign on the dotted line before their opening game after the 26-year-old gave the green light to move to N17.
Tottenham get their man
It now appears that Tottenham have been successful in that pursuit, with both Duncan Castles and David Ornstein reporting this morning that Bournemouth have agreed to sell for a club-record fee.
Alasdair Gold has now weighed in on the situation, confirming that Spurs are ‘closing in’ on the signing and that Solanke himself has shown a strong desire to play in Lilywhite.
He tweeted: ‘Spurs closing in on a deal with Bournemouth for Dominic Solanke and plenty of positivity about getting the transfer sealed.
‘Understand Solanke has shown a big desire to play for Spurs and as in the quotes I put out again yesterday from the Postecoglou chat, that’s a huge thing for the Australian. Solanke is going to be a major presence up front in his system, with his pressing, battling and finishing.’
Spurs Web Opinion
It now seems pretty apparent that Solanke will be brought in to compete with Richarlison rather than as a replacement for the Brazilian, with Postecoglou making it clear last week that he wants more options upfront.
This could end up being a very underrated signing by Spurs!
