Report: Why Bournemouth are frustrated at Tottenham for Solanke transfer

0

The Mirror report that some people at Bournemouth are frustrated that Spurs waited to formalise their interest in Dominic Solanke until just before the start of the new season.

Tottenham are closing in on Solanke

Over the past 24 hours, Tottenham appear to have stepped up their pursuit of Solanke, with a number of outlets revealing that progress is being made by the Lilywhites in their talks with the South Coast club.

This includes a recent update by Alasdair Gold, who claims that Tottenham are ‘closing in’ on a deal for the 26-year-old striker.

Duncan Castles and David Ornstein have even reported that Spurs have agreed a fee with Bournemouth – which is said to be a record sale for the South Coast club.

Bournemouth are frustrated at Tottenham

Journalist Steve Kay revealed earlier this week that he spoke to one Bournemouth insider, who appeared confident that Dominic Solanke would not leave the club this summer.

He told KS1 TV: “I spoke to someone at Bournemouth today and they didn’t say much, they didn’t want to add to this speculation.

“They just said that they are looking forward to having him next season. Take that for what you will. It’s always a bit cryptic and sometimes they tell you things you want to hear.”

Now, The Mirror say that some people behind the scenes at Bournemouth are frustrated that Spurs waited until just before the start of the new season to actually make a move for Solanke.

The report adds that Bournemouth have ‘reluctantly’ agreed to sell their star forward, but they had previously been optimistic about keeping him with under two weeks to go until the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

It is strange that Spurs waited this long to make a move for Solanke.

It perhaps implies that they had a longer list of striker options and were working behind the scenes to find out which deals would actually be possible. Otherwise, this transfer would have happened a month ago.
