OSBI investigating possible misconduct involving two Grady Co. Commissioners

GRADY COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) — The Grady County District Attorney's Office has called in state agents to help investigate possible misconduct in Grady County.

This follows a June 24 Commissioner meeting when the District One County Commissioner accused two other fellow commissioners of violating the Open Meeting Act.

A video posted online shows tension between District One County Commissioner Zachary Davis, District Two Commissioner Kirk Painter and District Three Commissioner Gary Bray.

"This is dangerous. There's two county commissioners that's making decisions for the entire county behind closed doors," said Davis in the video.

"Basically, what it was all about was they were wanting to take a third of the District One highway money, which would be my district and, you know, it'd been talked about for months. I'd been hearing about it since early April," said Davis.

The agenda item discussed the topic of the division of the road budget.

Commissioner Davis claimed that both Painter and Bray have met outside of the courthouse to discuss county business.

"This agenda item was a violation of the Open Meeting Act, plain and simple. This was a crime that you two committed," said Davis in the video. "You two continually make a mockery of the Open Meeting Act. There's been any instances since January where it was obvious that these agenda items were rehearsed."

Both Painter and Bray denied Davis's claims. However, Assistant District Attorney Charles Sifers said there was enough evidence to start and investigation.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has now been looking into the misconduct between Painter and Bray.

"Pretty sure that it was going to happen. I knew that it was coming," said Davis. "I just want them to follow the law. You know, the Open Meeting Act exists for a reason."

The OSBI only told News 4 that the investigation is ongoing.
