Tenacious D Just Needed a Break Y’all
“We were on a break!” screamed Ross Geller, but also now Jack Black. After canceling Tenacious D’s tour in July, Black says that he and Kyle Gass are still friends and they just needed “a break” from the tension. He tells Variety, “We need to take a break. Everybody needs a break sometime. And we’ll be back … Yeah, we’re friends. That hasn’t changed. These things take time sometimes … And we’ll be back when it feels right.” The tour was originally canceled after Gass made a joke about Trump’s assassination at a show in Australia. Black presented Gass with a cake for his birthday onstage, and when asked what he’d like to wish for, Gass said, “Don’t miss Trump next time,” referring to Trump narrowly avoiding getting shot in the head. Two days later, Black released a statement condemning Gass’s comments and canceling the rest of the tour. Hopefully during their break, Black isn’t making music with anyone else. Because they’re on a break and not broken up. Very different things!
