Report: Nottingham Forest plotting a bid for striker linked with Tottenham
According to 1908, Nottingham Forest are now plotting a move for Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, who was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.
Tottenham were linked with Santiago Gimenez
At the start of the transfer window, a number of outlets reported that Gimenez had emerged as Tottenham’s top centre-forward target, with the club alleged to see the Mexican as the ideal option to fill the void left by Harry Kane’s departure (GiveMeSport).
The intensity of the speculation has since died down, although there continues to be the occasional report suggesting that the 23-year-old remains on Spurs’ radar (TuttoJuve).
Over the last week or so, it has become clear that Dominic Solanke has now shot up to the top of Tottenham’s wishlist, with Ange Postecoglou’s men said to have stepped up their efforts to sign the Bournemouth star (CaughtOffside).
Is Gimenez Premier League-bound?
1908 have now claimed that another Premier League side are exploring a move for Gimenez ahead of the new season.
It is explained that Forest are keen on adding a top-class number nine to their squad and have set their sights on the prolific Eredivisie forward.
The publication adds that the Midlands club could soon make an offer for the striker but it remains unclear if the player would be keen on a move to the City Ground.
Spurs Web Opinion
The fact that none of the big clubs across Europe have made a move for Gimenez despite his ridiculous goal record is quite telling about what recruiters around Europe think about the quality of the Eredivisie.
It feels like Tottenham want someone with a little more Premier League experience.
