HORGAN EXTENDS DEAL TO END OF 2026

0

Dundalk FC are thrilled to announce that Daryl Horgan has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Oriel Park until the end of the 2026 season.

After six-and-half-years in the UK, Horgan returned to Dundalk last summer and he has featured in every game this season, chipping in with four goals and four assists.

The 31-year-old won three league titles in his first spell at the club between 2014 and 2017 and although Dundalk have endured a difficult campaign to date, Horgan believes there are better days ahead.

“I’m going nowhere now!’ he smiled. “My contract ran until 2025 but when the owner, Brian Ainscough, and the manager (Jon Daly) said it to me about extending it was something I wanted to do.

“It’s been tough this year but there have been some very good performances and a lot of improvement since Jon has come in and I’m very confident we can get out of trouble.

“I see a lot of good things coming and I can really see us going on and kicking on in the future and that’s something I want to be a part of.”

Horgan and Dundalk make the trip to Derry on Friday night looking to recover from the 2-0 loss at home to Galway United, a result that leaves the Lilywhites just two points clear of bottom-of-the-table Drogheda United.

“Last week’s result against Galway was disappointing but we have to bounce back from that now when we go to Derry on Friday night,” said Horgan.

“We know it’s going to be a very, very difficult game at the Brandywell but we’re going up there looking for the three points. That’s the aim, and we feel we can get them.”
