Amazon is selling the GHD Hot Brush for £179 – but there’s a £14 alternative that customers are calling ‘brilliant’
GHD is one of the leading hair tool brands, and has been for many decades, but the price can be a little out of our league – but I’ve spotted a much cheaper alternative on Amazon.
The retailer is selling the GH Rise Volumising Hot Brush for £179, but there’s another choice on the site that is on sale for just £13.99 – and it’s one that a shopper has described as ‘perfect’.

£13.99 (was £14.99), Amazon
The Revlon Tangle Free Hot Air Styler costs less than a tenth of the GHD Hot Brush, looks like a great hair and beauty alternative.
I have been using the GHD Rise Volumising Hot Brush for quite some time, and don’t get me wrong: it’s a brilliant tool to style my hair seamlessly, and reduce frizz, in one brush.
The Hot Brush is easy-to-use: simply switch it on and the brush will fire up to a high temperature of 185ºC.
It’s a great tool for a soft straight do instead of a poker straight finish, as well as gentle waves.
However, I won’t deny that it’s expensive, can only be used on dry hair, and doesn’t have adjustable heat settings.
So, when I found Revlon’s Hot Air Styler I had to do a double take, because it looks very similar to the GHD design, and is a fraction of the price.
While it looks similar aesthetically to GHD’s tool, the Revlon’s Tangle Free Hot Air Styler actually has a lot more benefits than you would assume for the price.
Firstly, the Revlon design can be used on wet and dry hair, as it can dry and style your locks no matter the length, which makes this multifunctional tool versatile, time saving, fuss-free and perfect to take on holiday because it does the job of two tools in one.
The styler as two heat settings, which you can flick between at the touch of a button, as well as an adjustable head.
That means you can fit one of the two brushes in the set easily – another feature GHD’s Volumising Brush doesn’t offer.
But the pièce de résistance is the lock and release feature, which is what gives the Revlon tool its Tangle Free name.
By clicking this button the Curl Release Switch your neatly styled coils will drop immediately, which is a pet peeve of mine as my hair often gets caught in the tooth of a brush or tool and either knots, or tangles, the section I was styling and undoes the segment.
While I haven’t tried Revlon’s Tangle Free Hot Air Styler, I am desperate to get my hands on it.
I have tried other Revlon hair tools, including the bestselling Volumising Brush, which some think is is similar to Dyson’s Airwrap.
Considering how durable, and effective other tools are from the brand, we think Revlon’s Hot Air Styler will continue to uphold Revlon’s reputable name.

Amazon shoppers have shared how impressed they are with the Revlon Hot Air Styler, with many praising it as a ‘perfect’ tool and ‘the best’ styler they have used.
One happy customer gushed: ‘It was very inexpensive, but it works surprisingly well.’
Another was impressed by its 2-in-1 functionality, and shared: ‘I have had several of these heated curler dryers for many years, I love it, dry and curl at the same time, excellent.’
A separate shopper weighed in: ‘After trying different hair curlers, this was by far the best, I have fair bit of fine hair, just had layers in and wanted miss match curl/body.
‘This product is great, quick warm up, not too hot, it does not tangle hair, can do tighter curls if want too also. The product is fairly cheap looking and is only £13.99, but compared to other expensive curlers, the results of this is just perfect.’
After reading the reviews we noticed shoppers of all ages and hair types have used the Revlon hair tool, which is why it gets another big tick from us.
Another glowing Amazon review read: ‘Great little device for making fine short hair look lifted at the roots. Lightweight and easier to use than brush and dryer.’
A separate customer added: ‘I was amazed to find this brush!! It is exactly the same as my old one, which is over 15 years old!
‘I have been looking for quite a while now but nearly all the brushes are too expensive and too large… well done to Revlon for a perfect product.’
