Man jailed for 11 years for possession of cannabis

A 41-year-old was sentenced to 11 years in prison for possession of 7.5kg of cannabis.

Police said the sentence was passed on Tuesday.

The 41-year-old had been arrested in March in the Famagusta district.

Police had stopped the man’s vehicle for a check, found a small quantity of cannabis and arrested him.

They later searched his house, where they found 12 packages containing a total of 7.5kg of cannabis.
