Barely there

Hello Friends,

Sunny skies and light offshore breezes were on tap for Thursday morning, but as the pictures show, the swell has pretty much ground to a halt. Yesterday’s long period south sets are just about gone. The 0600 MHL buoy report was showing 0.9 m at 9 seconds from 186° and an even smaller and shorter period east bump. There were a few keen types in the 16 C water who were doing well to jag knee high bomb sets. Tide was coming in to the 1.39 m high at 1040.

We’ll see what the Goat has to say later, but a quick glance at the swell models shows tininess lasting until early next week. The GFS model was showing a small uptick in energy from the east from around Tuesday, so here’s hoping!

Go well with your Thursday everyone.

Weather Situation

A high over southeastern Australia extends a ridge over the coastal waters. The high will move into the Tasman Sea today and linger for several days. A weak trough will move across the coastal waters south of Newcastle tomorrow, weakening over the Hunter coastal waters early on Saturday. The ridge will redevelop over the coastal waters from Saturday and persist for several days.
