KSNT wins Station of the Year award
TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Kansas Association of Broadcasters (KAB) named 27 KSNT its medium market station of the year for 2024, recognizing our station’s high standards in broadcasting.
The award is based primarily on the number of awards the station won in 19 competitive categories. 27 KSNT received multiple high honors in this year’s contest, including having the best prime newscast, sportscast and weathercast in the Topeka market.
Additionally, we were recognized for our coverage of the deadly Westmoreland tornado, winning first place in single-topic event news coverage.
Our TV station was honored for the exclusive stories it brings you each night, including winning first place for an in-depth news report for our investigation into the dumping of rubble from the Docking State Office Building into the Kansas River. 27 News Anchor Rebekah Chung exposed the illegal activity, which led to federal environmental remediation. Sports Director Glenn Kinley won first place for a story he reported about an African KU basketball recruit.
The station was honored for our weekly political show, Inside Kansas Politics, hosted and produced by Chung. The judges said it was the best recurring program in the market.
Our digital team won first place for excellence in multimedia/digital storytelling for its coverage of the Kansas license plate controversy we all endured last year. The team also took home second place for covering pothole problems in Topeka.
We want to thank the public for their support as we work day in and day out to bring you the best news, weather and sports coverage in Topeka. We want to thank our incredible staff for its dedication to keeping the public safe, informed and entertained.
