Church Point man charged with attempted murder in connection with stabbing

ACADIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- A Church Point man is charged with attempted murder after stabbing a man in his home, authorities said.
Jason Hopkins, 42, of Church Point is charged with attempted second degree murder, home invasion, possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana.
According to the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office, Hopkins forced his way into the victim's residence and began attacking him. At some point in the struggle, Hopkins stabbed the victim in the torso area.
The victim's name or condition have not been released.
Authorities said the victim and suspect know each other, but a motive has not been determined at this time. Hopkins is being held without bond.
