'Super load': 660,000-pound boiler hits Emporia Main St. on the way to CA
EMPORIA (KSNT) - On Tuesday, the City of Emporia announced a 'super load' was scheduled to travel through the city. Today it hit the Emporia Main Street.
27 News contacted the City of Emporia to find out what the object being transported is. Emporia Communications Manager Christine Torrens said it is a 660,000-pound boiler that is headed to California. Torrens said the boiler is being transported by Bragg Heavy Equipment.
The city said it had to temporarily take down traffic signals for the transport. Traffic signals at 12th Avenue and Merchant, 12th Avenue and Commercial Street, Seventh Avenue and Commercial Street and Fifth Avenue and Commercial Street will be temporarily removed. Merchant Street traffic is being detoured to Burlingame Road while the boiler is transported.
