Missing woman in Clark County presumed dead as detectives seek remains

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Detectives in Clark County are searching for a woman who went missing in September 2023 and is now presumed dead, according to the county sheriff’s office.

Alana Carroll, 32, disappeared after “staying at various residences in northern Clark County as she struggled with substance abuse issues,” deputies shared during a search for her in May.

By August 2024, investigators said they had reason to believe Carroll could be dead – though her remains have yet to be found.

“We can confirm that we presume Alana Carroll to be deceased and that we continue to actively investigate this case in an effort to locate her remains and discern her cause and manner of disappearance,” officials said. “We have several leads that we are working, and we have identified a suspect in this case who is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges.”

A search warrant obtained by KOIN 6 News named Luke A. Grant as a person under investigation in the case of Carroll's death. However, Grant has yet to be charged of a crime related to her disappearance.

Officials described Carroll as “a fair-skinned female, 5'6'’ tall, with a slim build, brown hair, and blue eyes.”
