Warren Co. hosts a discussion on human trafficking
LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Warren County is continuing the conversation about human trafficking with a community discussion on Thursday, Aug. 8. The county said the conversation began in January with 200 community members and is now looking to discuss how to address it locally.
The conversation will be held at 10 a.m. at the Queensbury Hotel's Adirondack Ballroom at 88 Ridge St. in Glens Falls. Lower Adirondack Alliance for Freedom, a public-private partnership, helped county officials organize the discussion and want to help community members understand the importance of addressing the different types of human trafficking and how it impacts everyone regardless of age or gender.
The conversation is free and open to the public. The Lower Adirondack Alliance for Freedom website has more information about the panel and human trafficking.
The discussion will go over how to spot early indicators of possible trafficking, strategies to protect anyone at risk, and how to support survivors. Panel members include Warren County District Attorney Jason Carusone, Warren County Sheriff Jim LaFarr, Executive Director for Warren-Washington CARE Center Sherry McGloin, Planned Parenthood Supervisor of Survivor Support Services Lisa DeWeese, and Glens Falls Hospital Forensic Nurse Coordinator Nadia Giumarra.
