New sign celebrates Albany Co. as Purple Heart County

ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- County Executive Daniel McCoy and county legislature unveiled a new sign to celebrate Albany County's designation as a "Purple Heart County." The sign was unveiled on Wednesday.

The county has registered with the Military Order of the Purple Heart for this designation. This is the county's way of recognizing the selfless service of the county's veterans and honoring those who have been awarded a Purple Heart Medal.

“Honoring Purple Heart Veterans is not only our duty but a profound privilege. These Veterans have endured the scars of battle, both seen and unseen, to protect our community. We owe them a debt that can never fully be repaid, and this designation reflects our commitment to ensuring they receive the recognition and support they deserve.” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy
