Report: Spurs are ‘reluctant’ to pay full fee as club double down on transfer stance

0

Contrary to some reports over the last couple of days, Football Insider have asserted that Bournemouth are continuing to demand that Tottenham meet Dominic Solanke’s release clause.

Tottenham want Dominic Solanke

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe explained on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel on Monday that Ange Postecoglou prefers Solanke over other options due to his all-round game, including his ability to press.

O’Keefe suggested that Spurs are hoping that an offer of £55m would be enough to clinch a deal for the 26-year-old striker.

Something similar was also reported by CaughtOffside, who said that Tottenham had spoken to the Englishman’s entourage and were ready to submit an offer of just £43m plus add-ons for the player.

Bournemouth do not want to negotiate

However, Football Insider have now said that the Cherries want Spurs and other interested clubs to meet Solanke’s £65m release clause.

The report explained that when Tottenham contacted the South Coast club over a deal for the centre-forward, they made it clear that they would not be willing to negotiate and that the full release clause would have to be paid.

However, the publication adds that this has not put off the Lilywhites from pursuing a deal for Solanke, who is viewed by Postecoglou’s men as the man to fill the void left by Harry Kane’s departure.

Fabrizio Romano reported today that Spurs and Bournemouth are in talks over a potential deal for Solanke, with Tottenham wanting to get it done this week. Whether or not the Cherries will buckle in their price demands remains to be seen.

Just like Palace’s stance on the Eberechi Eze deal, it seems like Bournemouth are pretty clear about not entering into talks about lowering Solanke’s price tag.

Tottenham may perhaps be hoping that the striker pushes for a move, thus forcing Andoni Iraola’s men to bring down their demands.
