Glencore highlights strategic achievements, earnings 33% down

iversified mining and marketing company Glencore on Wednesday highlighted what it described as “strong strategic achievements for the group over the year to date”. Against the backdrop of lower average prices for many key commodities, particularly thermal coal, Glencore's overall group adjusted earnings before interest tax depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) of $6.3-billion was 33% below the comparable prior year period, however funds from operations were up 9%.
