NATIONAL SUMMARY
Intense rainfall and strong winds will continue along the
Southeast coast today as Debby moves slowly toward South
Carolina. Widespread wind gusts over 40-60 mph and a storm
surge of 3-6 feet are expected along much of the Carolina
coasts. Prolonged heavy rainfall and storm surge can lead to
life-threatening flooding. Heavy rain will spread well
inland over the Carolinas. In the mid-Atlantic, localized
flooding downpours from a non-tropical storm will occur.
Elsewhere, it will be hot across the southern Plains and the
interior West. In the Rockies, there may be gusty afternoon
thunderstorms, especially in Arizona and New Mexico. A storm
will move across the northern Plains and bring a few showers
and thunderstorms. It will turn cooler across the northern
Plains and northern Rockies.
