Paris Olympics 2024 Day 12 LIVE Updates: Vinesh Phogat Aims For Historic Gold Medal

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat will look to etch her name in history as she gets ready to face Sarah Ann Hildebrandt of the USA to claim the wrestling 50kg gold medal on Day 12 of the Paris Olympics 2024 on Wednesday (August 7). Vinesh is already the first Indian female wrestler to enter the Olympic wrestling final and has already sealed a medal for the country but she will look to turn it into gold after stunning defending champion Yui Susaki of Japan in her first match on Tuesday.

Vinesh’s compatriot Antim Panghal will begin her campaign in the women wrestling 53kg category. Antim will take on Zyenep Yetgil in her pre-quarterfinals match from 3.05pm IST onwards. If Antim can progress to the final on Wednesday night like Vinesh, she will assure another medal for India.

Tokyo Olympics 2021 silver medallist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu will begin her campaign in the women’s 49kg category on Wednesday night from 11pm IST. Mirabai will be looking to emulate PV Sindhu by winning her second Olympic medal.

In athletics, Avinash Sable will be seen in action in 3,000m steeplechase final while Manika Batra-led women table tennis team will take on Germany in the women’s team quarterfinal.
