Schmidt wins Democrat race after Gov. Kelly's endorsement

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Patrick Schmidt wins the Kansas Senate 19 Primary race, after an endorsement from the Sunflower State's Governor Laura Kelly's PAC.

Schmidt has stamped his name on the November ballots as the Democratic candidate for the Senate 19 seat. The full endorsement statement is below:

"Governor Kelly's Middle of the Road PAC's mission is to elect commonsense candidates to the Legislature - regardless of political party. Endorsements in the primary were based on the incumbent's voting record. The PAC looked at their votes on extreme policies like the reckless flat tax proposal, voting to override Governor Kelly's vetoes of divisive legislation, and showing no interest in working with Governor Kelly to do right by Kansas families."

Statement from Will Lawrence Senior Advisor to Middle of the Road PAC and Chief of Staff to Governor Kelly

Schmidt beats Democrat opponents Vic Miller, the House Minority Leader, and ShaMecha King Simms. In the General Election, Schmidt will face either Republican Tyler Wible.
