Long Island woman accused of assaulting probation officer, police say
MINEOLA, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A 26-year-old woman is accused of trying to stop a probation officer from performing their duties Monday on Long Island, according to police.
Maria Campanelli was allegedly disorderly inside 1550 Franklin Ave. around 6:30 p.m., according to police. While Campanelli was escorted out of the building, she tried to stop the officers from performing their duties.
As police tried to place Campanelli in custody, police said she caused an officer to trip and fall, injuring his wrist and knee.
Officials said the officer was taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.
Campanelli was charged with assault in the second degree, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, according to officials.
