OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Two mysterious suitcases popped up in different places in Northwest Oklahoma City causing concern for neighbors. Oklahoma City Animal Welfare confirmed animal remains were found inside.

"I'm kind of blown back that it was left in front of my house. And now it's just sitting over there where I left it," said Tracy Ponder who lives in one of the neighborhoods.

This suitcase was left in front of Tracy Ponder's home near Northwest 84th and Harvey a few days ago. He ended up moving it across the street, but never knew what was inside.

"I never looked in it. I just thought it was kind of funny that it was kind of heavy and I just left it over there," said Ponder.

Neighbors called Oklahoma City Fire.

They said when they stopped by, a dead dog was inside the suitcase, but animal welfare is who needed to dispose of it.

It's been a concern for neighbors though and the smell reeked down the street.

Rhea Harper walked by when News 4 was in the neighborhood and could smell something bad in the air.

"Now I can smell it, oh my God," said Harper, who lives down the street.

Though, the suitcase on Harvey isn't the only suitcase that's popped up.

Another one was found near 122nd and Greystone Avenue.

When News 4 got there, the suitcase was gone.

The mystery had neighbors wondering who did this and why.

"My neighbor told me that he saw a guy carrying suitcases and he come back out and the guy was gone. But one suitcase was still sitting here in front of my yard," said Ponder.

Almost two hours after News 4 saw the suitcase on Harvey, Oklahoma City Animal Welfare cleaned it up.

"Well, I hope they catch him," said Ponder.

Animal Welfare sent a statement:

In the past two weeks, two suitcases have been recovered with what appears to be animal remains. The bodies have been so badly decomposed that we are not able to tell if there is any cruelty or neglect involved. There is no evidence that the two cases are related to each other at this time. Unless more evidence surfaces, the investigation is closed.
