Keira Knightley & James Righton Revealed the Breakfast Rule They Uphold With Their Daughters in a Very-Rare Interview

0

Like many celebrity moms, Keira Knightley typically keeps mum about life with her daughters Edie, 9, and Delilah, who turns 5 next month. But in a new interview with husband James Righton, she revealed a super-rare detail about her morning routine with the girls — and one breakfast rule they make sure to uphold.

The couple shared their morning essentials in an interview on the Ruthie’s Table 4 podcast at The River Café in London. “Make the coffee, grind it, you know, fresh V60 pour-over coffee,” the British rocker said about how they kickstart the morning with caffeine. He added that Knightley “gets black coffee in the morning” before getting their kids out the door to school.

For them, breakfast is simple: just “cereal with apple.”

“They have to finish the fruit,” the Pride & Prejudice star explains.

“So they get an apple, or you know, blueberries,” Righton says. “Because that’s the only two things that they eat,” Knightley adds with a laugh.

They have picky eaters, too?! As a mom of very picky eaters myself, this gives me so much joy. Once, my kids’ pediatrician told me their diets are fine as long as they eat fruit, so I always make sure to have fresh berries, oranges, bananas, and apples for my kids to eat. And it sounds like Knightley and Righton have a very similar rule in their household. (If their daughters are anything like my sons, this rule won’t be hard to enforce at all!)

In the past, the Boston Strangler star shared the importance of structure in her home for her “fantastically strange” girls. “I’m not naturally a structured person, but my kids find structure really helpful,” Knightley told Vogue in March 2023. “We’re quite a timetabled house, which is literally the opposite of my entire personality.”

“I am exactly not how I imagined myself to be as a mum. I thought I’d be a hell of a lot more hippy than I am. And I’m actually not hippy at all,” she continued.

Same, girl! Once you realize how much better your kids thrive on routines and bedtimes, you turn into a scheduled person really quickly. That’s just mom life for you!
