Simone Biles Reveals the Family-Oriented Conversation She ‘Always’ Has With Husband Jonathan Owens
As the most decorated Olympic gymnast of all time — who just added four new medals to her roster from the 2024 Paris Olympics — Simone Biles is used to planning for the future. She just revealed one important, family-focused conversation she “always” has with husband Jonathan Owens, and it gives a glimpse into her plans for the next four years and beyond.
In an interview with TODAY on Aug. 6, the gymnastics star told Hoda Kotb that kids are on her mind. “Yes, me and Jonathan always talk about kids, and he would have had them yesterday if he could have,” Biles said. “Obviously, we both have goals that we want to achieve before we start a family.”
Biles added that she “most definitely” sees herself as a mom in the future, although she didn’t reveal the timeline. Honestly, she’s probably too busy basking in her after-Olympics glow to think about specifics right now, and that’s OK!
During the interview, she also revealed that she isn’t saying “no” to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles just yet. “You never say never,” she said. “The next Olympics is on home turf. So you just never know. I’m just going to relax and see where life takes me.” Life could take her back to the Games as a competitor, or as a spectator like former Olympians Serena Williams and Shawn Johnson, who both brought their kids to the Olympics this summer. Only time will tell!
Biles and the Chicago Bears football player started dating in March 2020 and were engaged two years later. They got married in April 2023. This isn’t the first time they’ve talked about having kids. In an Instagram story Q&A last year, Biles told her followers that they are “taking everything one step at a time,” but have “definitely future plans” for children.
“So, I want two kids. He always says he wants a football team, but he usually says three. We’ll see,” she said, per Hello! Magazine.
For now, Biles has her adorable little niece to shower with love, and we couldn’t be happier for her!
