LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has reopened all camping and day-use sites in the Narrow Island group of Lake George Islands. The sites reopened almost three weeks after a storm caused damage to the area.

The DEC first announced many camping and day-use sites would be closed until further notice on July 17. On July 24, nine of the campsites reopened on Hatchet and Floating Battery Islands.

According to the DEC, roughly about 300 trees were down, with 20 tables, seven outhouses, seven tent platforms and seven docks were damaged on all eight islands. Since July 17, the DEC deployed maintenance crews to the islands daily, to ensure the sites were safe and ready to open.
