Fox News host fact checks Trump surrogate: 'He obviously stepped back from the ABC debate'
Fox News host Bret Baier pressed Trump campaign advisor Danielle Alvarez after the Republican presidential nominee backed out of an ABC News debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.
In an interview on Tuesday, Baier asked Alvarez if the campaign expected to have a debate with Harris before November's vote. Trump has offered to debate on Fox News, saying he would break his agreement to appear on ABC.
"Inside the campaign, is there a confidence that there will actually be at least one debate?" Baier said.
"Absolutely," Alvarez insisted. "President Trump has said he would debate. In fact, he accepted the Fox News debate."
The Trump spokesperson accused Harris of "running scared" after she "formed a coup" and forced President Joe Biden to step aside.
"President Trump is absolutely prepared to debate," she remarked.

"Well, he obviously stepped back from the ABC debate offer on September 10th," Baier pointed out. "But you're saying that there's a belief that Kamala Harris will accept a debate?"
"She absolutely should accept a debate," Alvarez replied. "She needs to explain to the American people the failures that are occurring, especially in the last 24 hours."
