Subway service changes on B and Q trains through 2025
NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Major subway service changes are hitting the B and Q subway lines in Brooklyn.
From now through the fall, both Brighton Beach-bound B trains and Coney Island-bound Q trains will skip the Church Avenue station in Brooklyn, according to the MTA.
Riders who need service to the station are advised to take a Brooklyn-bound B or Q train to Beverly Road and then take a Manhattan-bound train to Church Avenue. Alternatively, riders who need Brooklyn-bound service from Church Avenue can take a Manhattan-bound train to Parkside Avenue and turn back around on a Brooklyn-bound train.
B trains will also run on the local track between Prospect Park and Kings Highway in both directions.
Once fall rolls around, Manhattan-bound trains will also skip the Church Avenue station. Riders will have to take a Brooklyn-bound train to Beverly Road and transfer to a Manhattan-bound train. The MTA did not say when in the fall this service change would take place.
The partial station closure comes as the MTA is working to make multiple accessibility improvements to the Church Avenue station, including two new elevators, two new stairways, and a new fare control area. The agency will also work on making ADA upgrades to existing boarding areas, platform edges, sidewalks, and stairways.
Service changes and station improvements are expected to last through 2025.
