Oklahoma Supreme Court denies effort to continue St. Isidore contract

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — On Monday, the Oklahoma Supreme Court denied a request for limited administrative stay by St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School, preventing the religious charter school's contract with the Statewide Charter School Board from moving forward.

The decision come less than a week after Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond filed a notice with the Supreme Court, asking the justices to require the charter school board to either end the contract or face contempt of court charges.

Following the Supreme Court's decision, Drummond issued a letter to the SCSB stating that he expects the board to vote to rescind the contract with St. Isidore during next week's meeting.

"Today, the Oklahoma Supreme Court denied St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School's Motion for Leave to File Reply and Motion for Limited Administrative Stay," Drummond says in a letter to the SCSB. "For thirty-nine days, the Statewide Charter school Board has blatantly ignored the Oklahoma Supreme Court's writ of mandamus. I expect a vote on the recission to be on next week's agenda. As the duly elected Attorney General of Oklahoma and the State's chief law officer, you, as public officials under Oklahoma law, and immediately rescind the St. Isidore contract as ordered."
