Report: How a Dominic Solanke deal would affect Heung-min Son at Spurs

0

Ever since they sold Harry Kane last summer, Spurs have been looking for a new striker to fill his boots, and Dominic Solanke is now looking like the man to do it. It is thought his arrival could have a positive impact on Heung-min Son too.

Son can benefit from a striker signing

Last season, Spurs rotated between Son in the striker role, and the more traditional option of Richarlison through the middle. The pair did well, too, contributing 29 goals between them.

But, the Lilywhites are eager to bring in a new number nine this summer, and the search appears to have led them to Dominic Solanke.

According to a report from The Telegraph, that signing could lead to Son moving back to his more favoured and more effective position out on the left wing.

It is thought Ange Postecoglou is keen to sign a “recognised striker” to give him the “option” of using Son in that wide area instead.

What is happening with Tottenham’s attacking options?

It remains to be seen whether Spurs can add Solanke to their attacking roster this summer, with a £65m release clause believed to be required if Bournemouth are to let him go.

According to a report from The Times, Tottenham could be set to accept a £60m bid for Richarlison from clubs in Saudi Arabia which would help fund a move for a new striker.

It is not known whether Spurs would have to sell Richarlison before they sign a new forward, or whether they could keep the Brazilian to provide cover and competition.

Spurs Web Opinion

Signing a striker and getting Sonny back out on the wing would be brilliant for Spurs, as he’s far more effective there.

The one thing I just hope for any new signing we get is that we don’t sell Richarlison. I’d be a lot happier if we had him AND a new striker to provide real strength in depth up top.
