Rays Minor League Roundup: Week 19
The Montgomery Biscuits lineup now features Chandler Simpson, Carson Williams, Xavier Isaac, & Brayden Taylor
This week’s minor league roundup will only feature the numbers accumulated prior to the start of play on Monday.
We are now 19 weeks into the 2024 minor league campaign campaign and several prospects have certainly continued their ascent up the organizational ladder while others have seen their stock continue to drop.
According to FanGraphs (which factors in age and proximity to the big leagues), the overall top hitter in the Rays farm system continues to be outfielder Chandler Simpson. The 23-year old has started to see his production begin to droop, but still have solid numbers overall. His full statline is listed further below.
Meanwhile, the top pitcher is still 25-year old southpaw, Ian Seymour, who just received a promotion to Triple-A Durham. Over 17 starts in Double-A, Seymour had a 2.36 ERA | 2.81 FIP with a 28.3 K% and 6.3 BB% over 91 1⁄3 innings pitched. Thus far in Durham, Seymour has made three starts and has a 2.40 ERA | 3.79 FIP with a 25.8 K% & 4.5 BB% over 15 innings pitched.
Ian Seymour matched a career-high with strikeouts last night.

Before we get to the statistical breakdowns. Here is some news from around the Rays system.
- RHP Drew Rasmussen is expected to rejoin the Rays active roster and make his season debut during their series in St. Louis. He has appeared in five games, compiling a 8.59 ERA | 5.29 FIP with a 24.2 K% & 0.0 BB% over 7 1⁄3 innings pitched. Rasmussen is expected to rejoin the Rays as a member of the bullpen in the near future.
- 25-year old RHP Cole Wilcox is among the many players to receive a late season promotion as he’ll make his next start in Triple-A Durham. Acquired in the Blake Snell deal, Wilcox has been a work in progress for the Rays. Over 20 starts in Double-A this season, Wilcox has a 3.18 ERA | 3.21 FIP with a 18.9 K% & 6.2 BB% over 104 2⁄3 innings pitched.
- 2022 first round pick Xavier Isaac has been promoted to Double-A Montgomery. He has already collected his first AA homerun (against LHP!).

- 25-year old 1B Bob Seymour has been on an incredible tear since his promotion to Triple-A Durham. Although he striking out at an abysmal rate, he has hit .259/.300/.635 with 10 HR over 90 plate appearances; last week, Seymour had a stretch where he hit 5 HR over 3 games, including one that went 455+ feet to center field.
