How did you travel?

When you went somewhere far and had to stay the night... what did you do and if you could do it over what would you do?

I have a friend who traveled a lot for his kid and he said he wish he had had an RV.

I have seen a couple RV's at tournaments.
But it seems the vast majority stay in hotels.
