Walz interview circulates showing he took on MAGA long before Harris picked him for VP
With Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz selected as Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate for the 2024 presidential election, his past commentary on politics is emerging to the forefront.
As the chair of the Democratic Governors' Association, Walz weighed in on how to fight former President Donald Trump in a past interview with Politico, which is now making the rounds once again.
In this interview with reporter Elena Schneider, Walz outlined an attack that is becoming a key talking point in Harris' campaign.
"These guys are weird," he said. "Once they start running, their weirdness shows up, and especially with the nominee on the other side."
The "weird" line of attack has become commonplace, often trained on Trump's running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) over his proclamations that childless people should be penalized by law.

"This is going to be a binary choice," he continued. "Democracy, or what we saw with the former president. Projects, like roads getting built, or dysfunction. Pre-existing conditions being covered by health care, or having that ripped out. Those binary choices will start to become clear. They saw us act, how we acted during Covid, they saw us act on the recovery. It’ll work itself out."
Walz, who was one of the finalists for the VP slot alongside Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, is a veteran and former schoolteacher who also worked in agriculture and manufacturing before serving in a rural district of Congress and then being elected governor of Minnesota.
During his time as governor, he has overseen a variety of popular liberal reforms, including free school lunches, abortion rights, gun safety, and marijuana legalization.
