Stock markets plunge amid fears of a recession

Stock markets plunged in the U.S. and around the world amid signs that growth of the economy is slowing, with the jobless rate rising and job growth cooling. The downturn put more pressure on the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates substantially. NBC News' Christine Romans reports.
