Moreno confronts protesters, campaigns in Chillicothe

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WCMH) – Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bernie Moreno exchanged words with a handful of protesters Monday in Chillicothe, being accused of oppressing and refusing to pay his workers.

“I bless you with not shaking your hand and not countenancing what you've done to your workers,” Rev. Terry Williams said to Moreno. “You've oppressed your workers, you've kept off their wages. And what's this I hear about destroying information that a judge asked you to take; that I'm very concerned, and that's why you're not going to come to Chillicothe, Ohio, if you've oppressed your workers, and come to us who support workers in this state,  Bernie?”

But the Ross County Republican Party headquarters was packed with supporters who listened as Moreno promised to stop illegal immigration and join Donald Trump in returning the U.S. to a position of power on the global stage.

Moreno also said Monday’s 1,000-point drop in the stock market can be blamed on the White House and his Democratic opponent, Sen. Sherrod Brown.

“What you are seeing is the result of these catastrophic left-wing policies, you know?” Moreno said. “We have a commander-in-chief that’s really not capable of doing their job. I talked about that in a press conference that wasn't covered that much, but three or four weeks ago, we talked about the greatest cover up in political history. “

Moreno said he is traveling more than 2,000 miles a week campaigning across Ohio.
