Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin ‘surprised’ by 9/11 plea dead, DOD says: ‘We were not aware’

A death-penalty-free plea deal for the mastermind of the 9/11 terror attack and two others who participated in the plot had "surprised" Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, according to a Pentagon spokeswoman, who would rather see the three men head to trial.
