Will Smith Shares 'I Am Legend' Moment From Deserted European City
Will Smith was reflective as he explored the empty streets of Zurich, Switzerland over the weekend, comparing the early morning moment to his 2007 hit film I Am Legend.
Smith shared the selfie video of his dawn adventure on Instagram, showing him exploring the deserted city in a way the world-famous celebrity typically can't.
"I'm gonna walk through the streets of Zurich. I've never been to Zurich before, this is the first time," Smith said as the video began. "Our plane couldn't take off so we had to spend the night in Zurich. And it's all mine. It is so quiet."
The city's unpopulated streets at the early morning hour had Smith thinking about one of his biggest film successes.
"I'm having I Am Legend flashbacks. Looking for Fred," he said before reciting one of his famous lines from the film. "What you doing out here Fred?"
Fred, of course, is the mannequin Smith's character Dr. Robert Neville 'befriended' in the film, set in a post-apocalyptic New York City. The mannequin was used to bait Neville into a trap in a memorable sequence.
Despite the eerie reminder, Smith seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself, sharing clips of swans and Swiss Army Knives. "This is a treat for my life," he said. "This is fantastic. I never get to actually just walk through a city like this. Good looking out Zurich."
Even Switzerland's official tourism board weighed in on the visit, writing "We wish you a great stay," under his Instagram post.
