The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, August 6, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Another day of intense rainfall and strong wind gusts in
association with Debby is in store for parts of the
Southeast tomorrow, mainly from the Florida Peninsula north
and east to near-coastal portions of the Carolinas.
Widespread wind gusts of 40-60 mph are expected, with storm
surge perhaps approaching 10 feet in spots. Well to the
north of that disturbance, a cold front dropping southward
into a warm and moist air mass is expected to lead to the
potential for some severe thunderstorms to develop in the
afternoon and evening hours from north-central Ohio and
central Pennsylvania to northern Virginia and West Virginia.
The West Coast and much of the Plains should be dry, with
some widely separated thunderstorms most likely from the
Four Corners states northward into Montana.
