Post-mortem on 7-year-old to show cause of death

The post-mortem on the body of the seven-year-old girl who died after a pool incident at a hotel in Protaras will he carried out on Tuesday.

Police said the post-mortem was expected to reveal the cause of death of the girl.

Coroner Nicholas Charalambous will be performing the post-mortem at 9.30am at the Nicosia general hospital.

Police are taking statements from the lifeguards at the pool, the hotel staff and other people around at the time.

The parents will also be questioned.

The girl had been found unconscious in the pool and taken to Famagusta general hospital in an ambulance, where she was revived.

She was later transferred to Makarios hospital in Nicosia, due to complications, and died in the ICU.
